Saif Ali Khan, star Bollywood actor, is stabbed at home in Mumbai
Saif Ali Khan, a popular Bollywood actor, was stabbed multiple times at his home in Mumbai's affluent neighborhood on Thursday, according to Indian police sources.

Mr. Khan, a prolific actor from a celebrity family, was hurt in the early morning hours in the Bandra district by an intruder who managed to leave, according to police. He was sent to a hospital, where physicians stated that he was recuperating and in stable condition.
The police were investigating the incident and believed the stabbing was part of a burglary attempt, according to Dixit Gedam, a Mumbai police deputy commissioner. The police were hunting for one identified suspect, he said. "We know that the intruder used the fire escape to enter the house," Mr. Gedam said.
Mr. Khan had a significant spinal cord damage as well as deep cuts on his arm and neck, according to Dr. Nitin Dange of Lilavati Hospital, where he was receiving treatment. He had undergone surgery to remove a knife and correct leaking spinal fluid.
Mr. Khan, 54, has appeared in over 70 films over the course of three decades, playing parts ranging from light, romantic protagonists to dark, nasty antagonists. His mother, Sharmila Tagore, was a well-known actress, while his father, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, was India's cricket captain and descended from royalty. Mr. Khan is also married to another well-known actor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and his daughter, Sara Ali Khan, is an actress.

As word of the stabbing spread, opposition lawmakers in Maharashtra, the state in which Mumbai is the capital, slammed the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party for what they saw as a deteriorating law enforcement situation.
"If celebrities are not safe then who in Mumbai is?" Priyanka Chaturvedi, a Maharashtrian member of Parliament, expressed her views on social media.
Pooja Bhat, an actor and director, advocated for more police presence in the neighborhood, writing on social media, "The city & especially the queen of the suburbs, have never felt so unsafe before."
Last July, two gunmen opened fire outside Salman Khan's mansion in Bandra. Police apprehended two guys in the shooting and said they were linked to imprisoned gang boss Lawrence Bishnoi.
Baba Siddique, a former Maharashtra state minister, was shot dead by three gunmen in October outside his son's political office in Bandra. Mr. Siddique maintained good contacts with Bollywood celebrities.
